There are so many misconceptions about fat flying around out there. A lot of women tend to have problems with their bodies these days. This is all down comparing themselves to ‘perfect’ celebrities. Often times, these celebrities have been photoshopped to within an inch of their lives! Even if they haven’t been, they have plenty of money and hire the best personal trainers and celebrity chefs to whip them into shape. Some even cheat and have surgery. Some even have eating disorders. You really shouldn’t compare yourself to others, as you don’t know their story. That being said, if you want to get into better shape, it’ll help you to know a bit more about fat. Fat is so misunderstood! Here are some common fat misconceptions that you should know about:
Fat Turns Into Muscle
Some people think that when they exercise, their fat is going to turn into muscle. Oh, how the fitness fanatics wish this were true! Fat and muscle are two different things, so fat definitely won’t turn into muscle. You’ll lose fat when you exercise properly, and you might even build muscle. Ladies, don’t be afraid of building muscle. It’ll give you that highly sought after ‘toned’ look! It’s very difficult to build a substantial amount of muscle, so it’s highly unlikely you’re going to ‘bulk up’. It’s a much smarter way of training.
You Should Cut Fat Out Of Your Diet To Lose Fat
Fat is an essential part of any healthy, balanced diet. Fat definitely does not make us fat. The wrong type of fat is bad for us, and too much of it can make us fat. Then again, too much of anything can make us fat. Stick to healthy fats, like nuts, avocados, egg yolks, and the like. Keep ‘bad’ fats, such as palm oils and dairy foods limited. You don’t need to cut them out, just watch your intake. Some professionals even recommend eating more fat to lose fat!
The Ideal Body Doesn’t Have Any Fat
All bodies need fat to survive. This is especially true for women, who need fat on their bodies to bear children and have periods. All bodies need at least some level of fat, and women who get too low can encounter all kinds of health problems. What you deem to be your ‘ideal’ body is personal, but make sure you have a healthy level of fat!
You Can Spot Reduce Fat
Doing a ton of crunches will not ‘tone’ your flabby tummy. Doing leg raises will not slim down your legs. If you’re eating all of the wrong foods but doing these exercises, you’re fighting a lost battle. The truth is, we all have abdominal muscles underneath the layer of fat we have. It’s just a case of eating right and healthy to reveal them! You can do exercises to bring them out more, but you still won’t see them or get rid of your fat if you’re not eating right. There are also vitamins and supplements you can take to reduce visceral fat. You can’t do anything to make sure you lose more fat in a certain area either – not even waist training! To lose fat, you need a small calorie deficit (something healthy, that you can stick to). You can do this by making sure you’re eating just enough of the right foods, and working out. You’ll lose fat all over!
Now you can work out and eat smarter!
