Many times, we do workouts with the wrong forms and this could result in injuries of various kinds. They could lead to serious injuries if left uncatered to.
This is common while squatting. Bad form involves putting the knees way too forward and making your knees come out further than your toes. this stresses the knee. A lot of these are due to using heavier weights that your body can really handle
What to do?
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and keep your toes pointed outward at a 45-degree angle. Keep your back arched slightly and your chest forward. It should look like you are sitting down.
Try not to put too much weight on your toes
Do not put more weight on one knee than the other
Bend simultaneously at your knee and hips during the squat
Reduce the weight if holding weights to squat
You could experience some neck pain if working your abs with exercises such as crunches and sit-ups. If they are not done with proper form, injuries could result.
What to do?
Do not flex your head forward during crunches cause it puts unnecessary strain on your neck. Instead choose a spot on the ceiling and look at it while doing the crunches, this helps keep the neck in neutral spine.
Avoid putting your hands behind your neck and pulling. Instead, cross your arms in front of you or just touch your ears slightly during the crunches.
Focus on your abs and remember to breathe.
In general, while working out, make sure to use proper form. Remember quality over quantity. Make sure your form is right first before increasing weights. More weight than necessary ail lead to bad form and thus cause risk of injury. If unsure, seek the help of a trainer at your gym. Sometimes you may watch someone but they may also be doing it wrong. There are also some great videos on Youtube that you can watch.
