What are your Gym bag essentials? What do you usually have in your gym bag when going to workout? of if you do not carry a gym bag, what do you hold onto while going to the gym? I know there are a variety of things we all take with us to help make our workouts more enjoyable both before and after. I carry as few things as possible although sometimes I wish I was more fashionable and maybe have more things to carry along with me. Here is a list of a few things I take when going to the gym.
Gym clothes: These I usually carry with me if I have not already put them on, I mean what’s a gym session if you have to workout in jeans or something uncomfortable. For me, gym clothes consist of my sneakers, socks, a top and pants or shorts. I go as simple as possible.
Towel: This really depends, if I am going back home immediately which is often the case, then I won’t take my towel, but if I was going to work or out from there then I would usually have a quick shower before heading out of the gym
Headphones: Right now I’m loving my beats headphones because they totally block out everyone else lolll. Not to be a snob but when I am in the gym, I try not to make much conversation with anyone and do not like being bothered as well. The headphones also bring out the beats of whatever song I have playing so well, it increases my pump for each workout.
Phone: just cause I can’t seem to live without my phone. We live in a technology-driven time so can’t blame me! Sometimes I also use it to look up workouts if I want to switch up with what I am working on.
Water: I can’t workout without water. Just the thought of not having water with me drives me nuts. It’s also very important to always stay hydrated anyway. The gym usually has a water fountain but I prefer to take mine, some fountains have a weird taste. Plus having mine means I can drink it whenever I want and not have to walk to the fountain or wait for someone to be done drinking.
Music: Music keeps me so pumped up while working out and gives me the motivation to go through my workouts. I love upbeat sounds depending on what my workout is for the day.
Notepad and pen: this is usually to keep track of my workouts, the number of reps, weights and anything I do for next time. it helps me so I know where to improve on or what I did in past sessions
Snacks: This depends, I am currently training for a marathon so if I am doing a long run then I have a snack to eat mid workout
Other nice things to have
Disinfectant wipes: I do not usually take these since my gym has them plus most times I am alone in the gym but the wipes are great to clean equipment before and after you use a machine.
Shower shoes: If you are taking a shower before leaving the gym, it’s great to have shower shoes so you do not need to walk bare-footed around the gym. I hate the thought of walking around without shoes especially when there is water on the floor.
Bath soap and face wash: Again, this is for those heading out after the gym and need to clean up. I do not usually like the soap in the gym, plus I think it’s safer to use what your body is familiar with and not use something you do not even know.
Deodorant: To help with your clean up process!
