Staying fit and at your optimum weight can be hard. One of the best ways to help you stay healthy is to find an exercise activity that is fun. A fun activity will make the time go quicker, and will require less motivation. Remember, pick something that is fun for you to get the best results.
Dance and Fitness Classes
If you like to get your groove on, dance or fitness classes may be the best activity for you. Fitness classes are a great form of activity because they are aerobic and raise your heart rate. They are also excellent for correcting posture and toning muscles. With a fitness class, you can become so absorbed in getting the moves right that you forget you’re exercising. This is great for people that have trouble exercising and would watch the calorie counter on the running machine at the gym! It’s also a fantastic social activity, to meet other people in your area.
Mom and Baby
Mom and baby workouts are a great way for new mothers to get back into shape, without having to find a babysitter. You can try walking or running with the stroller. There is also a range of different stretches that will help your muscles return to the optimum condition. If you’d like some instruction on this, see my other post here.
Yoga has taken the world by storm. Yoga is an effective tool in keeping healthy, as it strengthens and elongates muscles. It also helps with focus and balance and can be a relaxing meditation experience. If you are trying to lose weight, alternate yoga and cardio on different days to get to get a really good workout.
Swimming is a fantastic low impact activity that can still raise your heart rate and burn a lot of calories. Getting a swimming exercise plan is useful. If you structure your swims like a workout, you will burn the maximum amount of calories. Although swimming can take a lot of time out of your day, try going in the early morning or late evening to avoid the crowds.
Yes, I know what you think, skipping is for kids! But boxers do it, so why shouldn’t we? Skipping burns lots of calories and is great aerobic exercise getting your heart pumping. You can skip a real rope, or you can do imaginary skipping see here for advice. Try to incorporate skipping as part of your workout routine for when you want to get a short, sharp burst cardio.
If you are more of a high octane girl, then Roller Derby might be for you. A competitive team sport performed on roller skates, Roller Derby can be some serious fun. Make sure you have the necessary safety equipment, though! Why not go and watch a match and see if you want to get involved.
Whichever exercise activity you choose, make sure you have fun with it, and you’ll begin to see results.
