We all try to keep our bodies and minds as healthy as possible. But with everyday lives becoming busier and fuller, our health can sometimes become neglected. It’s important that we make time to look after ourselves, to be able to live our lives to the full. Follow these tips, and start taking care of your body!
Drink Enough Water
We all know how important it is to drink water, but most of us don’t drink anywhere near enough. Over 60% of our body is made up of the stuff! It removes waste, transports oxygen around, and is needed to carry out bodily functions. We constantly lose water throughout the day, so it is important that we replace this. The amount of water you need depends on different factors; such as temperature, humidity and your size and age. But, eight glasses a day is recommended on average.
Get Enough Sleep
Sleep is a crucial part if living a healthy lifestyle. Making sure you get enough quality sleep improves your mental and physical health in many ways. While you sleep, your brain develops the way you think; preparing itself for the next day and forming new pathways. Physically, it is involved in healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels. Without it, you are more at risk of heart failure, high blood pressure, and obesity.
No-one likes a trip to the dentist but your oral hygiene is so important. Make sure you brush your teeth twice a day, and floss to keep your gums healthy. If you don’t like floss, there are the best water flossers available these days that make it much easier. Watch your sugar and acid intake, and make an appointment if you develop any painful or bleeding gums.
Of course you know exercise is important. Regular workouts do wonders for our bodies; improving fitness levels, battling obesity and improving our moods. If you aren’t a fan of the gym or are struggling with workouts, start off easy and go on a walk. Joining in with a sport of class are also great ways of making exercise a bit more fun. Whatever you do, just get outside and move your body.
Eat Healthy meals
Eating healthy goes hand in hand with exercise. You don’t need any extreme or fad diet, simply eat in moderation. Cook healthy meals from scratch, incorporate fruit and veg, and watch your portion sizes. You will notice the difference in your mood and energy levels very quickly.
In our busy day to day lives, we can often forget to take time off and relax. Stress is a huge issue in the modern world as we push ourselves too much. Take a few minutes each day to relax; whether that’s having a hot bath, reading a book or sitting in the garden. This is a perfect time to reflect on our lives and realise what is most important to us.
