Have you ever truly thought about what it means to be healthy? Its so easy to get wrapped up in what the media and everyone publicizes as healthy. These days it seems healthy is when you are skinny and have no extra flab on you. But is that really what healthy means?
Did you know that you can look skinny as heck and still be unhealthy? Many skinny people eat the most unhealthy things because they never seem to gain any weight. Guess mother nature is on their side huh? You see them chucking down burgers, ice-cream, fries etc and never put on a pound while you could eat a burger and seem like you gained the world lol.
Some people look picture perfect but are so stressed out from life, is that healthy?
So is healthy based on the scale, how your clothes fit, diseases, clean system?
When you get so hung up on healthy being how your body looks, you begin to focus so much on your food and thus even though you look great, you may not feel great inside, you may be stressed from work etc or from being so emotionally trapped in ensuring you eat right or workout consistently. You may even be doing crash diets and thus killing your organs slowly inside you. You may be taking the latest fad pills and also killing yourself inside.
I personally believe that healthy begins from the inside out. Healthy begins from a healthy mindset, a mind free of clusters. It beings with out mind, soul and body. It begins with freeing yourself from emotional constraints, fear, worries, body insecurities or insecurities of any sort, opinions of others, comparing yourself to others, living by the standards of others or trying to please everyone. All of these weigh you down and stress you.
Being healthy involves the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual sides, thus everything that goes into our bodies, through what we eat, think or feel indirectly or directly affect us. Everyone at the end of the day wants to be healthy no matter what the media portrays as healthy.
When you begin to focus on YOU, what makes you who you are, who God made you to be and the fact that you were created perfectly in his image, then you begin to live your life by his standards and see yourself through his beautiful eyes. You begin to focus on how you feel inside and outside. This in turn makes you healthy and thus makes everyone around you healthy because you are less likely to be spiteful or try to bring others down.
Ephesians 4: 29 says Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen
When you focus on how you feel and who God made you to be, you are more likely to make healthy decisions in nutrition and fitness. Do it not just for yourself, but for family, friends and those around you. Be happy in yourself, be happy in who God made you to be
