You workout and eat right regularly but you are not getting the results you desire and you see others getting it. What could be wrong? Here is a list of a few things i have noticed in myself and some clients. They are really easy to make or not even be aware of.
- Talking halfway through your workout
A lot of people use half of their workout time to talk to people. For instance, they say they workout 1 hour but in actuality its only 30minutes because half the time was on talking and this 30minutes also includes rest times so really how many minutes workout are they getting?
- Reading while working out
If you are doing active challenging workouts, you would not be able to read a book. Many people read on the treadmills or stair climbers or other cardio machines. In order to read a book, you are probably going at a slower pace than you should and your focus is also more on the book than on challenging yourself throughout the workout.
- Texting or checking your phone most of the time
This is very common and i am guilty of it sometimes. Yes its hard to ignore our phones but maybe put it on silent if you must have it on you while working out. That way you only use it when you need to, for instance to time yourself especially during rests.
- Endless crunches
Many people spend countless times doing a million crunches, If you have fat covering your tummy, yes you are toning your abs but they won’t show till you get rid of the fat layer. You need clean nutrition and workouts that exercises to help reduce the fat
- Not switching up your workout frequently:
Your body is smart and will plateau eventually if you keep doing the exact same workouts. You need to change it every 6 to 8 weeks to get consistent results. Do new things that challenge your muscles in a different way.
- Not challenging yourself:
Many people stop when the workout becomes uncomfortable. In order to succeed you have to get uncomfortable, you have to challenge your heart rate and muscles for them to grow. You cannot stop at the last rep because it seems too difficult. Its the last 2 or 3 crazy hard reps that get the results so push harder! If lifting weights, you have to lift harder consistently,do not stay on one weight because it seems hard enough and you cannot imagine going higher in weight.
- Not being consistent:
If you keep giving up and having to start over you would not get results. Consistency is key. You have to keep at it.
- Wrong outfit to workout:
Wearing the wrong gym clothes or shoes will make working out uncomfortable for you and thus you won’t perform well
